Puddle Jumper Brand Refresh

One of the projects I’m most proud of is the brand refresh of Puddle Jumper. The project took over a year to launch and in that time, I was the lead designer for both product and packaging.

As the design lead, I worked with our strategy team on extensive color and trend research which drove the on-product graphics, worked with our ID team to develop every 3D face mold, and led the production efforts from initial samples through final production.

From a packaging standpoint, I led all design efforts and worked with our engineering team to develop a new structure that complemented the product, came in on budget and worked alongside our brand team to establish a new messaging hierarchy.

To this day, the designs I created can still be found in retailers nationwide.

Original Packaging

Typically hanging on-shelf, the standard Puddle Jumper packaging needed to be durable, come in on budget and also fit to be hung in a variety of shelve set dimensions.

In regards to design, the original layout was cluttered and had no established hierarchy. The goal throughout the development was to simplify down our communication points and focus on what matters most: positioning the brand as the leading safe, fun and kid-friendly lifejacket.
